THE HON. DATUK WILSON UGAK KUMBONG

Biography

YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong is the Deputy Minister of Digital and was appointed on 12 December 2023. He was elected as Member of Parliament for Hulu Rajang in November 2022 and retained his parliamentary seat held since 2013. He is also currently the Vice President of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).

YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong was born in Sarawak in 1962 and has begun his political career since 1995. Previously he was the Managing Director of a Construction company before appointed as Political Secretary to Sarawak Chief Minister in 1995. Since then, he has held various positions in the State Government of Sarawak and was appointed as The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Affairs of Sabah, Sarawak, and Special Duties) in December 2022.

YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong also was appointed as the Director of Sarawak Hidro Sdn. Bhd in 2015. Besides that, he was also appointed as the Chairman of National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NOISH) Malaysia, making him the first Iban native appointed to the role.

YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong earned a Bachelor of Mass Communication in Political Communication from the University of Newcastle.
